Excellent, you keep covering subjects that have always intrigued me . In high school, I was assigned an AP Biology science project and I chose to investigate ESP, using the cards and methods of your hero (who I never knew of until now). My teacher was game as along as I applied strong methodology. I’ve always wondered why there isn’t more scientific study on this, but should have known the answer (the bias you describe). The Wikipedia jihadisrsr you describe are new to me and wow, that resonates . Some people are desperately afraid to face these questions and their certainty is their defense .
Another great Substack article and very timely one for me.
I am not sure where my path as a seeker is going to lead me, but hopefully, I will be able to help bring parapsychology to the mainstream in some small way.
I feel with this guy went through. He's study magick with a bunch of people who want to cause changes in their reality, and when you actually accomplish something magical, they think you are crazy, deluded, or have mental health issues. What's the point of studying magick if you're just going to deny it when it actually occurs. I think people want to get results, but are scared shitless when they get them.
I wrote Rhine a letter as a HS student in the late 1950s and received a long reply. I did not however pursue parapsychology research as a career. I then felt answers would emerge through the study of physics. Perhaps I need to resume what I abandoned so long ago.
Fantastic article, as a magician that favors the esoteric side of magic, I have more than a couple theatrical presentations based on Rhine and his research. 🎩🔮
Thanks for a deeply researched and very well written treatise! Today I'm pressed for time, but did want to say that as we study the mysteries of quantum physics, more proof of these concepts will emerge. Ditto for studying the mysteries of the vagus nerve that links our guts and brains.

Made my day.
Bless their sleeping hearts :)
