French mind theorist Γ‰mile CouΓ© (1857-1926) in an American newspaper, 1923.

β€œThe vibrations of fear,” success author Napoleon Hill wrote in 1937 in Think and Grow Rich, β€œpass from one mind to another just as quickly and as surely as the sound of the human voice passes from the broadcasting station to the receiving set of a radioβ€”and BY THE SELF-SAME MEDIUM.”

But we are not at the mercyβ€”at least not entirelyβ€”of fearful or negative psychical states announcing themselves to others. We possess a mechanism that fosters a kind of mind alchemy, altering our dominant thoughts and, in some measure, our moods and self-image. It is called autosuggestion.
